Growing our programs – enhanced weatherization
“You don’t sleep back there do you?” The contractor just could not believe that our client Vivian slept in her bedroom through the winter when the window wouldn’t shut. She did. She didn’t have a choice.
For many homes weather-stripping around doors, applying some rope caulk and putting transparent plastic sheeting over windows is enough to make a major difference to their ability to keep warm.
But sometimes the window simply needs replacing. Sometimes a new door is what is needed.
Thanks to a grant from the Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis, EnergyCare is happy to announce that we have enhanced our weatherization services to do more for people in need.
Low-income people who own their homes and are over 60 years old can now receive new doors and windows, furnace repairs/replacements and minor home repairs that will enable them to keep warm. All provided by qualified contractors.
Thanks to this program EnergyCare is installing three new windows for Vivian, replacing the worst ones in her home. Vivian is one of the first clients to be served by the program. Services are provided free of charge, but resources are very limited. Please contact EnergyCare today to be considered for the program.
