Victoria and Wardell clients of EnergyCare
Victoria and Wardell

Thanks to our generous donors, we are able to respond to clients quickly during a crisis. This was the case for Victoria and Wardell in the winter of 2020. That winter, Wardell discovered that his furnace had gone out. For seniors, and other people living on a limited income, a crisis like this can be what forces them out their homes. Because of your generosity, EnergyCare was able to respond quickly and work with Spire to replace the furnace. Their new furnace has kept them warm the rest of the winter and things were going great thanks to your support.

Then, as St. Louis began to heat up another crisis for Victoria and Wardell: the air conditioning unit they relied on to stay cool and safe in their home went out. For seniors, heat can be extremely dangerous: especially in the city with so many brick buildings and concrete. Under these circumstances, the heat intensifies making some areas of the city more dangerous than others. Because of donors like you, EnergyCare was able to get them a new window A/C unit installed within 48 hours of receiving their call. These interventions are so important to the seniors and families we serve like Victoria and Wardell. They are so grateful to all of you for your support that made this happen and we are so grateful to have friends like you to help our neighbors in times of need.

We install home weatherization materials, setup portable heaters and electric blankets, or simply give out standard blankets for immediate warmth. For the heat we install window air conditioners.
