Stefon is a hero to his niece. Thirty- two years ago Stefon was walking his niece to get candy at the local drugstore when an elderly man ran a red light. Stefon instinctively threw his 6-year-old niece to safety, and then was struck by the car. The impact resulted in a traumatic brain injury, and a six month coma. Thanks to Stefon, his niece grew up and went to college and is now working in the nursing field taking care of people with disabilities. This summer Stefon who is 60 and on disability called 211 about getting help cooling his 107-year-old home. EnergyCare was referred, and a week later we installed two window unit ACs and helped pay down the electric bill. Just like many other older adults on a fixed income, Stefon was looking at sacrificing other critical needs to stay cool during the extreme heat. EnergyCare continues its mission of taking care of energy- related needs for disabled people like Stefon, because of the generous donations from people like you!
