Energy Care Makes National News
EnergyCare’s Jana and Jonathan were featured in a recent Science Friday NPR piece on air conditioning. Here is a transcribed segment, which can be found at ScienceFriday.com. Arizona Law considers Air Conditioning an essential service, so your landlord has to fix it if it breaks. But in most places, it’s not required, St. Louis included. And someone has to fill in the gaps. (Shahla Farzan of STLPR) It’s morning late in August. I have been driving around St. Louis with a team of air conditioning installers from a nonprofit called EnergyCare, it’s just past 10am, when we pull up in Jennings, a suburb of North St. Louis, the sun beats down on a little brick house with a peaked roof. Inside 70-year-old Gloria Van has two fans running on full blast. She is glad to see the techs. And we talk while they work. “This heat has really made it hard” -Gloria. “It’s been a really really hot summer” -Shahla. “I called for a repair, and they said they would put two brand new window unit Air Conditioners in, and I was like thank you Jesus, because it was a Godsent.”-Gloria.

We install home weatherization materials, setup portable heaters and electric blankets, or simply give out standard blankets for immediate warmth. For the heat we install window air conditioners.
