Year-round Impact

The St. Louis summer heat once again proved dangerous for many low-income seniors, people with disabilities and chronic health problems. The global pandemic severely impacted every American, but maybe none more than older people. COVID-19 has also placed a high-intensity spotlight on the effects of patterns in St. Louis where minorities, seniors and low-income families live in neighborhoods where health disparities affect the quality and length of peoples’ lives.

Even with a delayed start to the season while we developed COVID-19 protocols to keep staff and clients safe, EnergyCare experienced very high demand and finished very successful summer.

The consequences of the crisis complicated our clients’ lives even more as they ran out of resources. Many other nonprofits in the community have depleted their resources or are unable to function during the crisis.

We deeply appreciate your support, as we switch gears to begin Fall and Winter services to help similar families stay warm this winter inside their own homes.
