Families Get Emergency Help
When They Need It

Dorothea lives with her kids in a part of South St. Louis you may only see in the news when something really bad happens. She can’t let her children play in the back yard because of the needles left behind by the people coming and going at all hours to the gas station across the street selling and using drugs.

She wants to move before the weather warms up and the neighborhood problems get worse, but her options are limited. That’s why she needs our help. Dorothea and her kids are cold in their own home.

Energy Care helped her and her family cope by working with Spire to keep her gas on in the winter. Her two-story apartment has no air conditioning. With your help, Energy Care has provided an air conditioner for her young son with severe asthma, which prevents frequent trips to the emergency room.

“I know EnergyCare is there when we really need help,” she says.

Dorothea is a strong advocate for EnergyCare and lets relatives and neighbors know EnergyCare will arrive with help when other agencies only offer referrals.

People like Dorothea and their families cope with all sorts of difficult living conditions, and EnergyCare continues to provide service to help them stay resilient. We help during a crisis and work with clients to prevent the next one.

We install home weatherization materials, setup portable heaters and electric blankets, or simply give out standard blankets for immediate warmth. For the heat we install window air conditioners.
