Winter Volunteer Opportunities
Installation of flexible vinyl on windows and weather stripping on doors inside the home.
WHEN NEEDED: October through March
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, by advance arrangement.
MINIMUM AGE: 14
SKILLS NEEDED: Ability to follow directions and use simple tools (staple gun, screwdriver).
OTHER INFO: Will work with an EnergyCare staff member. Minimum group size: 5 people. Maximum group size: 15. Involves some ladder climbing; may need to move some furniture for access to windows and doors. EnergyCare provides all materials and tools. Volunteer transportation required to EnergyCare and to weatherization site.
Measuring and cutting sheet vinyl, putting vinyl, instructions and other supplies into kit boxes.

EnergyCare staff will train and supervise at EnergyCare’s facility. All materials and tools provided. Activity takes place at EnergyCare’s facility.

Ability to lead and supervise a 5 or 6 person group of volunteers of varying ages; ability to use simple tools; ability to give clear instructions. Problem solving ability. Good people skills. Team leader is the liaison for the client and the volunteer group. Involves loading supplies into EnergyCare’s vehicles, leading volunteer group from EnergyCare to client’s home, supervising weatherization work and cleanup, and overseeing volunteer group’s return to EnergyCare. Requires a minimum commitment of two to three Saturday mornings per month from September through February.
